Thomas Dewey Pairing (oversize)
Thomas Dewey Pairing (oversize)
Two nice vintage oversize (11x14" paper) prints of Thomas Dewey. Leading the Republican party as a moderate governor of New York 1953 to 1954, Dewey was most famous for his stance against organized crime in New York, and was heralded for his prosecution of Charles "Lucky" Luciano. He also lost the presidential election in 1948 to Harry Turman in a large upset.
Studio portrait of Dewey is a beautifully captured and printed work, done by the renowned Underwood and Underwood agency. With excellent highlights and a depth of field that frames the face, you would be hard pressed to find a better vintage representation of this politician. Paper is faded to a slight sepia tone that is washed to white in scan. Print of Dewey at work is in good condition physically, though is definitely faded and has a spot of slight discoloration at center of print.
